Erwin’s mill beer

Erwin's mill beer

The art of Eifel brewing can taste this good

The tasty drink beer is one of the big “world stars” among beverages. Beer is internationally renowned, extremely popular and “on everyone’s lips” all over the world. Around 2 billion hectoliters are brewed every year, spread across almost every continent. China is the world’s largest beer producer. Not quite as much beer is brewed in the heart of the Vulkaneifel, here in the historic mill brewery in Birgel. But here a beer is brewed with a special taste and in a very special way. Without any power, without any electricity, but with a lot of taste. More information about the historic watermill.

Light beer and milled wheat from the Eifel

Produced according to the old brewing method and with a taste guarantee

Anyone who would like to experience a special kind of beer enjoyment should definitely try one of the two mill beers. Our brewing team produces two excellent types of beer in our Birgel brewing plant. And with a very old and traditional brewing method. We brew like the monks did 150 years ago. We have two types of beer in our barrels and bottles: Erwin’s light Mühlenbier and Erwin’s Mühlenweizen.

The light

The "light" among the mill beers

Erwins Mühlenbier, the lightest of the mill beers, is produced in our mill brewery using only the best natural ingredients and raw materials from the region and in accordance with the German Purity Law. Water, yeast, malt and hops are the key “players” in the brewing process alongside our brewing professionals and ensure the hearty, spicy taste of our “Hellen”.

Our delicious, home-brewed “Helles” from the Eifel region has an alcohol content of 5.0% by volume.

Enjoy our light beer in our brewery or in our beer garden. You can also buy our light Mühlenbier on site at the mill or in our online store
order.

The wheat

The "wheat" among the mill beers

“All good things come in twos!” Our second type of beer, Erwin’s Mühlenweizen, also has a lot to offer and impresses with a wonderful freshness and a smooth, mild taste. Anyone who drinks a Mühlenweizen from the historic Mühlenbrauerei will immediately notice what Birgeler Braukunst has to offer: a special kind of taste experience, the Eifel way.

Erwins Mühlenweizen is also produced in our mill brewery using traditional brewing methods and only the best, natural ingredients and raw materials from the region in accordance with the German Purity Law. The main difference to pale beer is that only half of the malting process uses barley, the other half is wheat.

Our refreshing wheat beer from the Eifel region has an alcohol content of 5.1% by volume.

Enjoy our wheat with pleasure in our  brewery  or in our beer garden. You can also buy our light Mühlenbier on site at the mill or in our  online store  order.

Erwin's mill beer glasses: only genuine with the portrait of the head miller Erwin

What does the motif on the Mühlenbier glasses want to tell us? Head miller Erwin gives us the answer in person: “The design of the motif in our logo is representative of my respect for the monastic art of brewing in times when the monks were still the only ones who could brew beer.

My likeness in the logo is intended to symbolize my ambition to come as close as possible to the monks’ art of brewing with every brew. The oversized ice crystal in the logo motif stands for the fact that beer tastes best when chilled!” Just try it out and order  here one of our beers with guaranteed enjoyment!
